Send RestOrTrain workouts to ROUVY
RestOrTrain connects directly to ROUVY to send structured cycling workouts. Intervals.icu is not required. You can also import completed virtual rides into RestOrTrain for review and later training recommendations.
RestOrTrain plans your season and weeks, builds individual workouts and explains each session. Use its direct ROUVY connection, or send today's workout through Intervals.icu if you already use that calendar. Choose one delivery route for each workout so you can check where it arrived.
Set up the direct ROUVY connection
Check your FTP before connecting. FTP means functional threshold power, the power reference for these workouts. Direct ROUVY delivery and .zwo export both use your current FTP in RestOrTrain. Match it to your FTP in ROUVY before sending or exporting.
In RestOrTrain, open the Profile tab, tap FTP on the athlete card, then tap + to enter your current value.
To connect:
- Open Settings > Data Sync > Rouvy.
- Connect your ROUVY account, review the requested access and authorize the connection.
- Check that Send workouts is on.
- Turn on Sync virtual activities if you want completed rides imported.
Send workouts automatically sends eligible saved cycling sessions. Enabling it also sends existing eligible sessions, so check your calendar first.
Sync virtual activities is optional. You do not need it to send workouts.
For an individual saved workout, Share > Sync to Rouvy provides an optional manual send. You do not need to use it for every session.
Put today's structured workout on your calendar
Ask RestOrTrain to adjust today's session using your imported training history. For example:
Use my recent rides to shorten today's cycling workout to 45 minutes. Explain which intervals you would keep and put the structured session on today's calendar.
Open that date in Calendar and verify the interval list, total duration and power targets. A text suggestion alone is not a saved structured workout. Saving can already trigger delivery, so check the saved session and preview it in ROUVY before riding.
Individual workout changes happen on request. If a training-plan proposal appears, it requires your acceptance.
Send today's workout through Intervals.icu
Before saving new sessions for this route, turn off Send workouts under Settings > Data Sync > Rouvy. This does not remove copies already sent.
Then set up the first connection in RestOrTrain:
- Open Settings > Data Sync > Intervals.icu.
- Connect your Intervals.icu account and grant calendar-write access.
- Enable Send workouts and keep it on for this route.
RestOrTrain sends saved session text to the Intervals.icu calendar. Intervals.icu interprets that text using its own zones; it is not receiving the same .zwo file.
On ROUVY's website, open your profile > Connected Apps and Devices > Connected Apps. Connect Intervals.icu and authorize the same account.
This connection imports today's workout into ROUVY, not your full calendar. It also sends completed ROUVY rides to Intervals.icu. Check the workout date and the timezone at the bottom of ROUVY's Connected Apps page. Its automatic/manual synchronization choice applies to completed activities.
See ROUVY's Intervals.icu instructions for detailed setup. These instructions were checked October 15, 2026.
Find the first place a workout is missing
Check delivery in order:
- In RestOrTrain Calendar, open the intended date. Verify that the cycling session has saved interval details.
- For direct delivery, check the Rouvy connection and Send workouts setting.
- For Intervals.icu delivery, check its calendar next. If the session is missing, check its RestOrTrain connection, calendar-write access and Send workouts setting.
- In ROUVY, open Workouts and check the imported connected-app sections.
If the session is in Intervals.icu but missing from ROUVY, check that connection, the workout date and timezone. Compare the duration and targets wherever a preview is available before retrying delivery.
Import a .zwo file as a fallback
Open the saved cycling workout in RestOrTrain and select Share > Share .zwo File. If its structure is missing, ask RestOrTrain to put the structured session on the intended date, then verify it in Calendar.
Use time-based steps with power targets in watts or %FTP for reliable export. Not every text prescription converts.
In ROUVY, use Workouts > Add your own workout > Import from file and choose the .zwo file. The ROUVY Riders Portal also offers Import from file. See ROUVY's workout instructions, checked October 15, 2026.
Frequently asked questions
Why are the power targets different in ROUVY?
For direct delivery or file import, check that RestOrTrain and ROUVY use the same FTP. A .zwo file stores targets as fractions of FTP. For Intervals.icu, keep FTP consistent across the apps and check its zones. If an easy step changes target, ask RestOrTrain to write every step in watts, then compare previews.
How do I review a completed ROUVY ride?
Enable Sync virtual activities in the direct Rouvy connection. Once the ride imports, ask: "Compare today's ride with last Tuesday's threshold session. I struggled with the final interval today." RestOrTrain can examine imported stats, available laps or intervals, and activity notes. Relevant discussion can inform later recommendations. If a ride is missing, check that import setting and use Sync past activities to fetch recent history. Confirm the ride has imported before asking about it.
RestOrTrain plans your season and puts today's session on your trainer or Garmin.
